One of the things I enjoy doing is experimenting with dyeing and painting on silk. I had an extra little 5.5" X 8.5" spiral watercolor pad with the pages all painted already. A while back the dyeing group I belong to did a painting on silk swap. Believe me.... my initial efforts were humorous at best. Still, I have played and experimented and I AM getting better! I have ideas that I want to try to do on silk so I will put them in here... along with my results eventually. The cover is one of the silk pieces I received in the swap - not one of my own. But I like the look of it and the size was perfect for this little journal. Thanks Ann Hubbard!!! The challenge with a spiral watercolor pad journal is always how to cover those wire spiral thingies. I have found that noodles serve this purpose very well. I make the cover about 1/2 inch longer so it will help cover the wires. This time, the silk overhang kept curling back so I used two of the noodles on each end to attach the silk to the spiral. Oh, and the noodles on this one are from the left over edges of the silk piece that I used for the cover! I like the results! Now, to plan and play!!! Study in Silk Journal
