Wow! I had a WONDERFUL vacation just reading, watching it snow, reading, sleeping, reading..... well, you get the idea! I wish we could do this more than once a year!
This morning I picked out my card for this week of My Creative Journey. (Drum roll............) Imaging You Can. This seems similar to Fire Your Critic. The idea is to not put yourself down or quit because you aren't as good as some of those who are famous for what you are doing. More important is that you are doing something you love to do and you are doing your best at it! Don't give up on your DREAM!!!
I really need this one periodically. I'll think about doing some technique that I haven't done (or even those I have) and I see what others have done and I sometimes think "What on earth am I doing hanging out with these people??? I'll NEVER be that good!" I may never be an award winning fiber artist but I am having the time of my life!!! I enjoy it, some of my friends like what I do, my husband thinks I'm not too bad........ what more could a girl want???? The joy is in the process. That is one of the things I'm trying to build into my life in many areas but especially the area of my art. Even if something doesn't turn out the way I plan or want..... I still probably learned something or improved on something. What I learn from is NEVER a waste.
So, as the snow gently falls out my studio window, I will be thinking of just enjoying what I do even if no one in the whole earth ever sees it or appreciates it. It is fulfilling for me and exciting to me. Many people can't say that. I feel blessed that I can.
